Where I grew up...
My hometown is right here in Pyeongtaek! Upon completing my compulsory military service in the Korean Air Force, I decided to take my next step in pursuing my dream as a clinical psychologist in the US. The places I have called home since then are Berkeley, Oakland, San Francisco, Mountain View, Palo Alto, and San Jose, CA until I moved to the East Coast in Columbia, MD for my postdoctoral fellowship in clinical psychology.
My professional training
Upon completing my bachelor’s degree in psychology with honors from the University of California at Berkeley, I went on to achieve my doctoral degree in clinical psychology at Palo Alto University, an accredited institution by the American Psychological Association (APA). In the course of my doctoral program, I also gained valuable experiences in various settings: elementary schools, community centers, National Center for PTSD, and VA Health Care System – working with military-connected families and multicultural individuals. Furthermore, I completed my postdoctoral fellowship at John Hopkins University School of Medicine/Kennedy Krieger Institute, a top leading institute for neurocognitive/neurodevelopmental disorders in the nation.
As a clinical psychologist, I am equipped to provide a safe base and effectively help you in meeting your desired goals. My practice in therapy is founded on evidence-based treatment approaches: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Psychoanalytic Therapy, and Strength-based Positive Psychology. I value treatment that is integrated and collaborative to meet your specific needs and pace. My areas of expertise are Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and its related challenges, as well as Trauma-related disorders and mood disorders. Using evidence-based approaches, my goal is to guide you and help you develop, learn, practice, and use skills that best fits you. I look forward to talking with you.
When I'm out of the office...
I enjoy traveling locally, watching TV, working out at the gym, taking walks, meeting up with friends, and cooking.
