Where I grew up...

While I was born in Seoul, South Korea, my family moved to England when I was 6 years-old, and subsequently to Hungary when I turned 10. After graduating from an international school near Budapest, Hungary, I ended up in beautiful Amish country in Lancaster, PA for college. In order to pursue my dream of becoming a clinical psychologist, I ended up on the other side of the US-in sunny Southern California for graduate school. For my predoctoral internship and postdoctoral residency, I ended up moving once again to the lush nature of the Pacific Northwest and considered Oregon my home before returning to South Korea in 2017 to complete my compulsory military service as a Korean Augmentation to the US Army (KATUSA). My life journey so far has taken me around the world and I am looking forward to being part of your journey as well.

My professional training

I earned my master’s and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology (Psy.D.) from Rosemead School of Psychology at BIOLA University, an accredited institution by the American Psychological Association (APA). During my graduate program, I received clinical training in a variety of settings, including a high school, a federally qualified health center (FQHC), university counseling centers, medical hospitals and clinics (primary care). I completed an APA-accredited predoctoral internship at George Fox University Internship Consortium in Newberg, OR, and subsequently, completed an APA-accredited postdoctoral residency at Providence Medical Group Postdoctoral Residency in Clinical Psychology in Medford and Portland, OR.

My approach to therapy is integrative and eclectic, and my goal in therapy is to not only help you build skills to manage difficult symptoms but also to help you become psychologically, socially, physically, and spiritually whole. I like to utilize Psychodynamic Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT; both for individuals and couples), and third-wave Cognitive Behavioral Therapies (CBT)-such as Mindfulness-Based CBT as well as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I also have specialty in helping clients with chronic health conditions such as diabetes, autoimmune diseases, persistent pain, and insomnia.

When I'm out of the office...

My hobbies include playing golf, going on hikes, finding new restaurants, watching professional soccer, and playing the guitar! At the end of a long day, I like to spend time connecting with family and watching a good TV series or movie.

I believe that people are shaped by relationships, past or present, and that powerful change occurs within the context of relationships. Through our therapeutic relationship, I hope to help you become emotionally, physically, and spiritually whole.
